Soy wax is a popular ingredient for candles because it is natural, renewable, and eco-friendly. Made from soybeans, it is a non-toxic and biodegradable alternative to traditional paraffin wax. However, like any other wax, it can also present some challenges, such as an odd finish around the wick.
A slightly uneven finish around the wick is a common occurrence when using soy wax candles, especially in those made with 100% natural soy wax. This is due to the wax’s natural characteristics, which can cause the surface of the candle to appear uneven and textured. One of the main reasons for this patchy look is air pockets or bubbles that can occur when the wax is poured. As the candle burns, the wax melts, leaving behind small air pockets that create a uneven surface.
At Linden Leaves, we use 100% natural soy wax in our candles, which gives them a clean burn and long lasting fragrance. Our candles are hand poured and made in small batches to ensure the highest quality. We also use lead-free cotton wicks to ensure a clean and safe burn. We then carefully select our unique fragrances to create beautiful scents to transport you to a world of relaxation and serenity. Our candles are vegan friendly and cruelty free, making them a perfect choice for those who care about the environment and their wellbeing.
To avoid your candle becoming patchy from the get-go, we recommend you let the top layer melt fully from the wick to the jar edge when you first light it. This will help prevent your candle from getting the tunnelling effect since you’ve created an even surface from the start.
There is a way to transform your candle so it is good as new! First, wrap the candle in aluminium foil. Make sure to wrap along the sides but don’t cover the top. Then light your candle and allow it to burn for 60 minutes. This will help melt the wax build up and even it out. Once completely melted extinguish the flame and allow the wax to cool and harden…then voila you have a beautifully even candle!
Linden Leaves 100% natural soy wax candles offer a beautiful and sustainable way to fill your home with delightful fragrances while creating a peaceful and relaxing environment.
