Here at Linden Leaves we understand that it is not just what you put on your skin that makes you glow, but also what you put into your body. Therefore, we like to start our day off right with a nourishing and delicious breakfast. This Green Smoothie Bowl is packed full of antioxidants that will give you that super skin glow.
The star ingredient in this smoothie is kale, a dark leafy green vegetable filled with super-food goodness!
So why is kale so good for your skin?
Kale is a nutrition powerhouse loaded with antioxidants and essential nutrients, including skin superstar Vitamin C.
Antioxidants help prevent and repair damage to your body’s tissue by slowing or preventing the effects of oxidation by free radicals (if you have ever seen a peeled apple turn brown you have experienced oxidation first hand!). Therefore, antioxidant rich foods such as kale can help protect the skin from sun damage and skin cancer, and may actually reverse some of the skin discolouration and wrinkles associated with ageing.
Kale also boosts your skin because of its collagen promoting Vitamin C content. Your skin contains collagen fibres (which are long strands of protein that form a network that holds your skin cells together). Vitamin C helps your body make the collagen it needs for strong and healthy skin, with a lack of Vitamin C leading to weak and damaged skin.
Therefore, in addition to an effective skincare routine, antioxidant rich foods such as kale can help protect the skin from sun damage and premature signs of ageing – and so a delicious Green Smoothie Bowl for breakfast can have many beneficial effects for your skin and overall health. So why not give our super food, super skin green smoothie a go?
